Question: Is there a law which states that a defense lawyer, if he knows otherwise, cannot say his client is innocent or not guilty? If so, are there any qualifications to this?

Good question, and it's a matter of ethics. It's very grey - I'm sure there have been many many attorneys that have had more than a hunch that their client was guilty and continued the defense....
